24 horses make up the final field for the 2013 Group 1 Melbourne Cup, offering punters countless possibilities for a winning trifecta in the $6 million event.
Due to jump tomorrow at 3:00pm (AEST), all runners are currently featuring particularly juicy odds at Ladbrokes.com.au including current favourite Fiorente ($7.50 or $15 DTO); meaning a successful trifecta will be particularly lucrative.
Outlined below is a brief trifecta that we believe could well and truly feature in the 2013 Melbourne Cup, which if successful will return punters a great profit.
Don’t forget to make your first bet on the 2013 Melbourne Cup a straight up win, as Ladbrokes.com.au are offering all punters DOUBLE the fixed win price on bets up to $50!
1st – #12 – Seville
There are far too many factors pointing towards a Seville victory in the 2013 Melbourne Cup to ignore, which is why we believe the Galileo entire is the best bet. One of six Lloyd Williams runners in the 2013 Melbourne Cup, the Galileo entire has slowly warmed to the task this campaign, following up forgettable starts in the Memsie Stakes and Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes with a well-fought victory in the Group 1 Metropolitan. After a strong showing in the Cox Plate most recently, Seville appears to be on a similar course to that of Green Moon in 2012.
2nd – #4 – Sea Moon
Similarly to many European-trained runners, Sea Moon took a little time to acclimatize to the Australian conditions upon first arriving at the beginning of the Spring Racing Carnival, but has slowly returned to the form that saw a runaway victory in the 2012 Hardwicke Stakes; a race that also included 2011 Melbourne Cup victor Dunaden and current 2013 favourite Fiorente. After being stripped of victory in the Listed Bart Cumming Stakes, the imported stayer recorded his maiden Australian victory in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) last start in a perfect lead-up to the cup.
3rd – #23 – Tres Blue
The Gai Waterhouse-trained Tres Blue will be the first Northern Hemisphere three-year-old to line up in the Melbourne Cup since Mahler, who ran a strong third behind Efficient in the race’s 2007 edition. After recording back-to-back victories in the Group 3 Prix De Reux (2500m) and Group 2 Grand Prix De Deauville (2500m), the Anabaa Blue entire looks more than ready to take a further and successful step up in class and distance. Adding more fuel to the fire, rising Jockey Tommy Berry will take the ride on Tres Blue, who will only have to carry 51kg.
